In 9th grade, a talent show audition inspired Pete Kern to develop the ability to play two recorders simultaneously with his nostrils. The act inspired standing ovations at youth conferences and eventually gave Pete the opportunity to perform on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He shared this honor with a guy who hula-hooped with his butt and a guy who sang about being bald.
As a freshman in college Pete began to write and perform stand-up comedy for friends. This proved to be a significant outlet; he stopped acting out as the annoying, loud-mouthed, attention-seeking show-off he had been up to that point. This led to successful relationships with women–something foreign to him at the time–and even marriage. In fact, all good things in Pete’s life can be traced directly back to his decision to do stand-up.
Pete’s humor is half observational and half autobiographical. He transforms everyday events into carefully constructed comedic monologues. His most recent work has explored what your social life looks like after marriage and what happens when you try to make Rice Kripsies Treats using Rice Krispies Treats Cereal.
Peter is very patriotic. He collects the State Quarters and has a goal to visit every state capitol. He also wants to read a biography of each U.S. President in order. He is currently on George Washington.
